ABSTRACT:
Burn-out is a syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. Workplace burnout is described as a state of emotional, mental and physical exhaustion caused by chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. As the stress continues, work interest or motivation is depleted. In the study, “A descriptive study to assess knowledge regarding burn out syndrome among the teachers of selected senior secondary schools of district Mandi, Himachal Pradesh”. A non-experimental research approach and descriptive design was used to assess the level of knowledge of burnout syndrome among the school teachers. Total samples of the study were 100 teachers. A convenience sampling technique was used to select the sample. A self-structured knowledge questionnaires was prepared to assess the level of knowledge regarding Burnout syndrome among the school teachers. There is an association of level of knowledge with gender and area of residence. Whereas the other sample characteristics (age, type of family, religion, marital status, educational status, monthly income, food habits, exercise pattern, previous knowledge) were not statistically significant at 0.05 level of significance. The study concludes that the 50% participants have adequate knowledge regarding Burnout syndrome.
